On the right, Omar Barghouti while sitting with the hands clasped and a serious look. He is dressed casual and wears a green olive kufiah. At the center the inscription: "UNITE ON BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS AND INTERNATIONAL LAW. INTERVIEW WITH OMAR BARGHOUTI, BDS CO-FOUNDER".

There should be unity on basic human rights and international lawdespite political and ideological differences, and everyone must do their partin their sphere of relative influence’ to stop the genocide and the apartheid regime in Palestine: these are the concepts etched in our conscience after we interviewed Omar Barghouti, co-founder of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions), a non-violent resistance movement born in 2005 in Palestine, inspired by the struggle against South African apartheid. Its goal is ending military, economic and cultural ties with institutions and companies involved in the violations of Palestinian human rights.

We interviewed him in September, in Naples, when he met Neapolitan activists who had just started a local group of the movement. In the assembly (of which you will find some excerpts in the full video) he talked about the academic boycott, dockworkers’ unions, the campaigns against TEVA, Airbnb and Booking, the “purism” on the left in relation to BancaEtica (criticized for using HP products) and to instigators in social movements, and on the critiques of @nootherland.film, sparked by the stance of the BDS academic branch (PACBI) on the documentary.
